Ways to pamper the self, hot baths, saunas, hot springs, hike to a secluded lake and nude sun bathe, make a delicious meal and serve with a good wine, sleep in a hammock.
There are several simple ways I pamper myself. I brew a cup of fragrant tea and enjoy it on the couch with a good book. I go for an hour long walk in the afternoon with a good friend and we chat about life. i annoint myself every night before bed with my own “concoctions” (carrier oils blended with fragrant essential oils such as lavender/cocoa or patchouli wild orange or just plain old extra virgin organic coconut oil which smells so wonderful I am in instant bliss!).
Your Wild Lime Leaf body oil sounds like a great pick me up any time of year.
My pampering: I love to put essential oils in my bath and have long soak. Then I put on my softest sweats, whatever is my favorite fragrance of the moment (lately it’s been Indochine or Kalimantan), have a glass of wine and snuggle up on the couch to watch a movie with my honey!
My hands are also not the most beautiful. And I do bite my nails. It’s awful, but I’m over it. Things I love to pamper myself happy — baking sweets. Cookies, cakes, trying new recipes. I’d say about only half turn out successfully, but I love indulging in the time when the inspiration strikes. I’m a huge fan of your body oils in Orange Blossom and Lavender, but haven’t yet tried Wild Lime Leaf. So this would be perfect to try.
I love dark chocolate, especially chocolate truffles flavored with essential oils. My favorite is Ylang Ylang chocolate truffle!
Charna, thank you for the great blog and the awesome giveaway!
Thanks for this generous draw!
My usual auto-pampering tends to be tea (very into jasmine now), dark chocolate, occasional bubble baths, and a calming vanilla body lotion (used some this morning on my cracking cuticles!). And pefume too! Takes me on a lovely scented journey.
Music and walks outside are so basic to my own personal maintenance, especially in the winter when it can get dreary, that they don’t really register as pampering, although they are definitely an enjoyable aspect of self-care. But trips to the library to pick out amusing books and dvds feel much more indulgent, like retail therapy with no bills!
I love the story of the Hands. The perfume blend sounds amazing and I would love to try it!!
Good post – and the comments on this post have been helpful, too. Good reminders of what we can do to take care of ourselves, no matter what’s going on or how busy we are.
I, too, have “unfeminine”-looking hands (but since so many women have big, strong hands, maybe it’s time to re-define what feminine hands are) and nails that break, so I keep them short. But as my husband says, when I tell him I like his classical-looking hands: your hands look like they can get things done – and they do.
I remember my Mom’s hands, and they were the same: substantial hands, nails short, un-colored (she was a nurse), with the occasional burn or scar (she was a wonderful baker). I always think of them in action: knitting, sewing, fixing the toaster, bandaging a child – and I feel proud of the hands I inherited. I hope that you are proud of your capable hands, too. ; ]
Nature always invigorates me – but when I can’t get there, I soak my feet in essential-oil & herb-scented water, and daydream or read – and it works almost as well.
Your Wild Lime Leaf body oil sounds like something both my husband & I could try – which would be great.
(Oh, yeah, and your ex-manager sounds like a creep – attaching fake nails should not be part of one’s job description – unless they are a hand model or something…)
Mmm wine baths! Nice wine, nice bath salts… then getting out, putting on some yummy perfume and something silky. And knowing I did all of that just for me.
Oh, I can smell that wonderful Wild Lime through my computer! And yes, it did pick me up:) Thanks for taking part in the JOY in January event. It’s been great fun! (My hands, too, need a pick-me-up)
